Electrician

Perform a variety of electrical trade functions in the installation, maintenance and/or repair of equipment and distribution power systems for all thirty (30) County locations, including emergency calls twenty-four (24) hours/day, seven (7) days/week.  Incumbent will perform all assignments, as designated by supervisor.

• Incumbent installs, modifies, repairs, troubleshoots, loads and tests new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, fixtures, controls and equipment.
• Secondary distribution lines and circuits used to supply a wide range of voltage, amperage, phase and frequency requirements, distribution panels, switchgear, power and control circuits, electrical wiring, detection, and fire alarm systems and high intensity lighting systems.
• Uses building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings and electrical maintenance and repair manuals to plan and lay-out the routing, placement type, sizes, gauge, balance, load, continuity, and proper and safe operation of electrical lines, circuits, systems and controls.
• Installs, modifies, repairs, loads and tests systems, circuits and devices.  
• Determines, arranges, places and routes wiring to and from panels, boxes, circuits, fittings, connections and controls.
• Determines and installs wiring, fixtures, transformers and other electrical devices in the size, type, and arrangement needed for proper and safe operation of electrical devices in the size, type and arrangement needed for proper and safe operation of electrical systems, circuits and equipment.
• Performs routine paperwork, as required.
• Cleans work areas, parts and equipment.
• Works independently and with a minimum of guidance.

• 1-3 years’ experience; recent grad accepted.
• Knowledge of how to run and bend rigid, EMT, wire mold and green field of all sizes.   
• Knowledge of how to install, run and service BX and feeder cables.
• Knowledge of all proper grounding procedures.
• Knowledge of working floor duct system.
• Knowledge of fishing wiring in walls and ceilings.
• Basic knowledge of Card Key Systems.
• Ability to estimate jobs for time and materials.
• Current in knowledge of size, type, pole amount, amperage and voltage capacities of all types of circuit breakers.
