The District is seeking a highly skilled, journey-level Electrician to join the Power and Mechanical team. This essential role is responsible for the integrity of the District's electrical infrastructure. You will provide technical expertise in the installation, maintenance, and modification of high-voltage traction power systems and facility-wide electrical networks.
As a specialist in the electrical trade, you will be the primary steward of the systems that power our revenue vehicles and support our essential facilities. This is a journey-level classification, offering a high degree of autonomy and the opportunity to work on complex, large-scale industrial equipment that requires precision and a commitment to safety. This is a SEIU Local 1021 Bargaining unit position. All full-time SEIU District employees must follow the "Bid Form" process and deposit their bids in the bid box. The selected candidate must demonstrate a work history reflecting reliability and dependability and may be required to provide copies of certificates, diplomas, or other documentation required by law, including proof of authorization to work in the United States, and pass a pre-employment medical examination which includes a drug screen, which is specific to the essential job functions and requirements. Pre-employment processing will also include a background check. This requirement does not apply to current full-time District employees unless the position requires additional evaluations or clearances.
Experience:
EITHER
A minimum of three (3) years of experience in the installation, maintenance and/or repair of varied electrical systems and equipment.
OR
Completion of an apprenticeship in the electrical trade and a minimum of one (1) year of journey level experience that included installation, maintenance or repair of varied electrical systems and equipment. Experience with high voltages and industrial or plant equipment are desirable.
Other Requirements:
Must possess and maintain a valid California Class B driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record. Must be physically capable of working in confining workspaces and willing to work occasional emergency overtime.
